Located in Augier, Vieux-Fort, St. Jude Hospital has been a cornerstone of healthcare in southern Saint Lucia since its establishment in 1966.
Originally founded as a charity hospital, it has evolved to provide 24-hour emergency and primary care services to the community.
In 2009, a devastating fire severely damaged the hospital, leading to temporary operations from the George Odlum National Stadium. Recognizing the urgent need for a modern facility, the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) partnered with the Saint Lucian government in 2024, signing contracts to reconstruct the hospital.
The project, backed by a $75 million concessional loan, aims to deliver a 100-bed facility equipped with maternity wards, emergency rooms, and surgical suites, serving approximately 50,000 patients annually.
This reconstruction signifies a monumental step towards enhancing healthcare quality and accessibility in Saint Lucia.
